Sustainability at Etape Loch Ness

We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of the event, but we need your help to make it happen. Here’s how we’re working together to reduce waste:

• Bring your own bottle: All participants must carry a reusable water bottle, with refill points at the four support stations and Event Hub.
• Reduce litter: Please respect this incredible setting by disposing of waste responsibly and recycling where possible.
• Recycling points: Bins are available at the start and along the route, with designated litter drop zones (1 mile after each support station) for gels and wrappers.
• Less waste, more reuse: We aim to recycle as much as possible, including packaging, and reuse event materials like signage and marshal bibs each year.
• Giving back: Surplus food, water, and clothing are reused, recycled, or donated to local charities and food banks.
• Local & low waste: We work with local suppliers and only order what’s necessary to minimise waste.
• Sustainable catering: Food vendors are encouraged to use eco-friendly alternatives to single-use plastics.
• Digital-first: All communications are online—no printed materials are distributed.
• Greener travel: We encourage walking or cycling where possible (bike racks available), and public transport or car sharing for those travelling further.
